Hi everyone, if you are getting ready for IELTS Test, and IELTS Speaking in particular, you probably focus exclusively and solely on the content of your answers and on the language as well… However, based upon my experience, I want to tell you that psychology really matters, since during speaking you interact with a human being, so plus-minus 0.5 or even 1 point(!) you can gain or lose depending on the impression you produce on the interviewer…<\/p>\n
Of course, IELTS administrators will state that this psycho-component is always taken care of in order to eleminate it altogether… But I have witnessed multiple times such cases when some of my students who had inferior level of spoken English, got higher bands for their IELTS Speaking than those with a much larger vocabulary and higher fluency… So, it is my firm belief that psychology matters…<\/p>\n
How you sit in front of the examiner? How you smile or do not smile at all? Do you try to ask him\/her some short questions or not? Do you demostrate profound enthusiasm or just undergo a torture? – all these and a lot of other aspetcs influence your score. Sometimes it is just this 0.5 point that changes the whole picture.<\/p>\n
