New Duolingo Interactive Reading – Interesting Feature!

Hi everyone, while tutoring students for Duolingo English Test lately, I have noticed a fresh and peculiar feature of the new Interactive Reading section – it is the idiomaticity of many collocations…

we all know that there are thousands of idioms in the English language. Such phrases as “not my cup of tea” or “take it easy” seem to be rnown to everyone, from toddlers to grannies)) And yet, prior to dealing with this new Interactive Reading Section, I did not notice so much idiomatic smell in Duolingo. Now I feel that the new reading section may cause some hindrance on your way to success if you do not dip your toe into the world of idioms…

How can we prepaare for the encounter with the idioms? Obviously, it is a good idea to read or watch a lot of materials dedicated to idioms all over the Internet and YouTube in particular. Of course, if you have one week before the Duolingo test, you have a lot of other work to do apart from digesting idioms – it is too late. However, if you have more than half a year at your discretion – then it is a brilliant idea to plunge into the world of idioms! By the way, if you master some idioms deeply, you will be able to add some of them to your own speaking and writing and thus raise your score…
